Corona-API einfacher öffnen: Heute soll iOS 13.7 kommen

Heute soll iOS 13.7 für alle Nutzer erscheinen. Um das Update hatte es in der letzten Woche einige Unklarheiten gegeben, zunächst war iOS 13.7 nur als Beta erschienen. Das Update bringt einige Erleichterungen für Gesundheitsbehörden bei der Nutzung von Apples und Googles Corona-Kontaktverfolgungsschnittstelle. Das Update soll später am Abend erscheinen.

Heute Abend soll Apple iOS 13.7 für alle Nutzer veröffentlichen: Wem das bekannt vorkommt – tatsächlich gab es diese Ankündigung schon einmal. Später stellte sich dann heraus, lediglich eine Beta für Entwickler war vorgelegt worden.

ioS 13.7 ermöglicht es Nutzern, die Schnittstelle zur Verfolgung von Infektionen mit Covid-19 direkt in den Einstellungen zu aktivieren, ohne zuvor die jeweilige App zur Kontaktverfolgung ihres Landes heruntergeladen zu haben.

Apple erklärte in einer Stellungnahme zu iOS 13.7:

As the next step in our work with public health authorities on Exposure Notifications, we are making it easier and faster for them to use the Exposure Notifications System without the need for them to build and maintain an app. Exposure Notifications Express provides another option for public health authorities to supplement their existing contact tracing operations with technology without compromising on the project’s core tenets of user privacy and security. Existing apps using the Exposure Notification API will be compatible with Exposure Notifications Express, and we are committed to supporting public health authorities that have deployed or are building custom apps.

Nationale Apps können weiter genutzt werden

Für Nutzer, die bereits eine Corona-Tracking-App installiert haben, soll sich nichts ändern, diese können nach wie vor in üblicher Weise genutzt werden. In Deutschland wurde die Corona-Warn-App bereits von rund 18 Millionen Nutzern geladen.
Laut Apple existieren inzwischen in 25 Staaten und Regionen Corona-Apps, teils auch mehrere ins einem Land. Apple sieht so rund 55% der Weltbevölkerung theoretisch in der Lage, eine Tracking-App zu nutzen. Wie effektiv diese Apps im einzelnen sind, steht indes auf einem völlig anderen Blatt.
