Bang: Apple Music bringt Musikdokumentation

Apple probiert es weiter mit Musikzentrierten Videoinhalten bei Apple Music. Am 24. Oktober startet Bang! The Bert Berns Story in Cupertinos Streamingdienst.

Apples Bemühungen sich mit Eigenproduktionen für Apple music einen Namen zu machen zeitigen bislang sehr überschaubare Erfolge. Die App-Entwickler-Casting-Reality-Show Planet of the Apps versickerte regelrecht im Streaminggrund und der unlängst gestarteten infantilen Serie Carpool Karaoke bescheinigten Kritiker ein einfallsloses Konzept und fehlende Alleinstellungsmerkmale. Nun folgt der nächste Versuch, wieder mit Musik. Und irgendwie ist es auch plausibel, ist Apple Music doch ein Musikstreamingdienst. Bang! The Bert Berns Story können Abonnenten ab dem 24. Oktober sehen.

Dabei handelt es sich um eine Dokumentation über Leben und Werk des Songschreibers Bert Berns, der in den 60ern zahlreiche Erfolge hatte.

Music meets the mob in this biographical documentary, narrated by Steven Van Zandt, about the life and and career of Bert Berns, the most important songwriter and record producer from the ‘60s that you’ve never heard of. His hits include “Twist and Shout”, “Hang on Sloopy”, “Brown Eyed Girl”, “Here Comes the Night” and “Piece of My Heart”. He helped launch the careers of Van Morrison and Neil Diamond and produced some of the greatest soul music ever made. Filmmaker Brett Berns brings his late father’s story to the screen through interviews with those who knew him best, and rare performance footage. Included in the films are interviews with Ronald Isley, Ben E. King, Solomon Burke, Van Morrison, Keith Richards, and Paul McCartney.

Dieser Inhalt mag einige ältere Hörer tatsächlich ansprechen. Aber kann Apple Music mit Beiträgen dieser Art eine nennenswerte Zuschauergruppe erreichen? Wir sind eher skeptisch.
