Spotify kooperiert: Freier Entwickler arbeitet an Apple Watch-App

Shortnews: Spotify wird in den nächsten Wochen eine eigene Apple Watch-Anwendung bekommen, die unter dem Namen „Snowy“ an den Start geht. Der Hintergrund mutet dabei etwas skurril an.

Andrew Chang wollte eigentlich für sich eine Drittanbieter-App bauen, die den Musik-Dienst auf Biegen und Brechen irgendwie auf die Apple Watch bringt und musste dabei zunächst mit Gegenwind der Schweden rechnen. Doch nun hat sich Spotify dazu entschieden, mit dem Entwickler zu kooperieren.

I’m thrilled to announce that I’ll be working closely with Spotify to bring Snowy to the Apple Watch as part of an official Spotify iOS app. Spotify’s powerful iOS SDK made it possible to develop Snowy, but I can’t wait to take things to the next level with the expertise and tools available at Spotify. While I can’t give any estimates as to when it’ll be available, you can rest assured that a Spotify Apple Watch companion app is in the pipeline.

Die App soll auch Offline-Musik ermöglichen und Siri unterstützen. Auch Gesten könnten als Steuerungsmöglichkeit zum Einsatz kommen, heißt es. Wann mit einem Release zu rechnen ist, ist noch unklar.
